Honoring NICU Heroes This September with Project Sweet Peas

Nominate a NICU Nurse or Caregiver This NICU Awareness Month 

Every day, NICU caregivers show up with extraordinary compassion, strength, and dedication for the tiniest patients and their families. September is NICU Awareness Month, a time to honor these unsung heroes who make an immeasurable difference during some of life’s most challenging moments.  

At UPPAbaby, we believe in supporting families from day one, especially those who begin their journey in the NICU. This year, we’re proud to partner with Project Sweet Peas, a nonprofit organization that supports NICU and bereaved families, to celebrate the nurses, doctors, and caregivers who go above and beyond. Together, we’re recognizing the heroes who make an impact every single day.  

Why This Matters to Us  

The Mamaroo® Smart Swing has been used in hundreds of hospitals across the country, including NICUs, as a comforting tool for babies. The familiar motion helps soothe infants when caregivers can’t be right by their side, providing comfort and calm in a sometimes overwhelming environment.  

Now with 4moms as part of the UPPAbaby family, together we are committed to supporting NICU caregivers and families in meaningful ways. Honoring these heroes is not just an extension of our mission, it’s at the heart of who we are.  

The NICU Hero Giveaway  

This September, we’re making it possible for you to help us celebrate the NICU heroes in your life. In partnership with Project Sweet Peas, we’re inviting you to nominate a NICU nurse, doctor, or caregiver who has made a difference. Nominations for this program close on Monday, September 15th, but we are committed to continuing our support of NICU heroes throughout the year and beyond. 

Ten nominees will be selected as winners, and each will receive 10 Mamaroos for their NICU unit, helping more families and babies benefit from the comfort and support the Mamaroo provides.  

A Nurse’s Perspective  

For Joanne Potter, a NICU nurse, the Mamaroo has become an invaluable tool in caring for the tiniest patients.  

She first saw it in action when the grandmother of a baby in her unit brought one in for her grandson. “What a game-changer! The Mamaroo is an infant seat that bounces and sways the way parents do when comforting their babies.” 

Since then, she’s witnessed the difference it makes every day, for both the hospital staff and the families. “The Mamaroo provides peace of mind, knowing babies have an extra set of arms when parents can’t always be there. It helps us as nurses, too.” 

Today, the Mamaroo is in more than 600 hospitals across all 50 states, a testament to the comfort and support it brings to NICUs nationwide.

 Every nomination is a chance to celebrate the incredible individuals who dedicate their lives to helping families during some of their most difficult days. Their strength, care, and compassion deserve to be recognized not just in September, but every day.
